Apple Brownies

December 16, 2019 by mgrc Leave a Comment

These apple brownies are so good I’ve made them two or three times in the last couple of months. I got the recipe from a cookbook group on Facebook.

These are so easy to make – you can even whip them up after a long day’s work.

Start with one cup of chopped apple. It’s up to you how big the chop is or whether or not you leave on the peel. I prefer these apple brownies with peel off.

The rest of the ingredients you probably have on hand: butter, white sugar, an egg, flour, baking powder, baking soda, and cinnamon. The batter looks divine!

These whip up so fast. Just pop them in the oven and you’ve got apple brownies in 40-45 minutes or so. These are a little overbaked — can you see the dark brown edges?

Didn’t hurt the apple brownies at all. Still super tasty!

Apple Brownies

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup butter melted
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 1 egg beaten
  • 1/2 cup pecans chopped (optional)
  • 1 cup white flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350. Grease 8x8 pan and set aside.

  2. You can take the time to mix the dry ingredients first, then pour in the wet. Honestly, I usually measure (most of) the dry into a bowl, drop in the wet, and call in good.

  3. Mix the chopped apples in last.

  4. Then pour into a prepared and bake at 350 for 40-45 minutes.

Recipe Notes

I've successfully added the following: 1 teaspoon powdered ginger, 1 teaspoon vanilla, and just enough water to make the batter pour - about a tablespoon?
