Mars Bars Cookies

May 9, 2019 by mgrc Leave a Comment

Whatever you call these, they are delicious. I’ve never even had this recipe for Mars Bars Cookies from Cross Country Cookery, and I know I’ll love them. Why?

Because they’re the famous and most beloved Seven Layer Magic Cookie Bar. Or “Hello Dollies” or whatever your family called them. Maybe you gobble them up as soon as they’re out of the oven. Maybe you have more willpower when it comes to cookies than me and serve them cold from the fridge.

However you like them, please invite me over.

Mars Bars Cookies

Ingredients

  • 1 cup graham cracker crumbs
  • 1/2 cup butter melted
  • 1 6 oz package semi-sweet chocolate bits
  • 1 cup pecans chopped coarsely
  • 1 3 1/2 oz can coconut
  • 1 can sweetened condensed milk

Instructions

  1. Reserve 1/3 of coconut to go over nuts. The rest of the coconut is best sprinkled next to the crumbs, I think.
  2. Add crumbs to melted butter. Press mixture into the bottom of greased 7×11 pan or 13×9.
  3. Spread this layer with chocolate chips, followed by nuts, then the coconut. Pour milk evenly over mixture.
  4. Bake at 350 for 25-30 minutes until the top is golden brown. Cool for a few minutes. Cut into squares when completely cool.
