Here’s a recipe for those tasty donuts with jam preserve fillings from the Red Plastic Box recipe collection.
- 1 14 1/2 oz package hot roll mix
- 12 teaspoons preserves
- 1 cup confectioners sugar sifted
- 1 to 2 tablespoons warm water
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
- Mix all ingredients together.
Prepare hot roll mix according to directions on package. Let rise until doubled in bulk. Knead 30 times on floured board. Roll to 1/4" thickness. cut into rounds with 1 1/2" floured cutter.
Place 1 teaspoon preserves in center of one round and top with another round. Seal edges well by moistening with water; press together securely. Let rise until light.
Fry in deep, hot fat (375) about 2 minutes on each side. Drain on absorbent paper. Brush with transparent glaze while warm
