This recipe is from the “Red Plastic Recipe Box” collection. This box was $6 at an estate sale. It is red and plastic, hence the inventive name “Red Plastic Recipe Box.”
It’s difficult to read this recipe card. The writing is cursive and fading. It seems like it says 1 tablespoon gelatin, but other recipes I check for Pineapple Bavarian Creme refer to 1 3 oz package.
Pineapple Bavarian Creme
- 1 tablespoon gelatin ?
- 1/2 cup cold water
- 1 8 oz can shredded pineapple
- Boiling water
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice
- 1/2 cup whipped cream
- 1/2 cup sugar and salt
Mix gelatin and cold water and let stand until water is absorbed.
Drain syrup from pineapple and add enough water to make 1 cup.
Heat the pineapple syrup and H2O to the boiling point.
Then pour it over the gelatin water.
Stir until gelatin is dissolved.
Add sugar, salt, and water while stirring till they are dissolved, add lemon juice.
Cover and set side in a cold place until mixture begins to thicken.
Whip cream and add pineapple. Then add this to the gelatin mixture.
